Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that the start of Session 2021-22 has gone smoothly and that your children have settled well and are enjoying being at school.
Thanks to those who joined our first parent council meeting of term last week – it was great to see so many new faces. I hope that you found it useful. The papers from the meeting have been uploaded to the Parent Council website for you to access at your leisure.
Sources of information
The website will become the key repository for much information as we progress through the session. For example, Jenni, our Comms lead, has created a list of key dates for your diary. This is in no way exhaustive but does help remind you of key dates which are coming in the next term. You can find the key dates here.
Please bookmark www.bruntsfield.org as your key source of information on the activities of the Parent Council.
Most classes also have WhatsApp groups where information can be shared about PE days, homework and many other issues. Please keep these messages respectful of teaching staff and other class mates who may not share your views.
Fundraising
The team will be in touch in the next few days with regard to the production of tea towels for 2021. This is not a small task for a school of over 600 pupils so please bear with us – we found a working solution last year and will try to improve on it for this year.
We also believe that the school will be producing individual winter greetings cards and they will be in touch about this in due course.
Future meetings
For those who have expressed an interest in helping restore the clubs infrastructure, we will have an information and planning session on Monday 6th September at 7.30pm. A link for this meeting has already been circulated but please, get in touch if you need a reminder.
Our AGM will take place on 22nd September and at this we will form the new Parent Council and elect Office Bearers for the coming session. If you have an interest in becoming an office bearer, please get in touch. We have a number of vacancies specifically in the clubs team. However, we are also in need of a fundraiser and events coordinator as we remain hopeful that events can take place later in the year. The link for the AGM together with all papers will be circulated by email in the next week. Please watch out for it if you would like to attend.
And finally…..
As I close off my final monthly Chair’s update after twenty four tumultuous months all I can hope for is an uninterrupted school year and our children get to participate in a whole range of activities which have been lacking since March 2020.
Over the last 18 months, I have learned more about CEC processes than any sane person ever should. I’m not sure I’m grateful for that, but do know the respect in which Bruntsfield is held in and around the city and I was proud to be able to represented you and your interests. I now look forward to restoring some order in my garden amongst other things !
