Due to the latest school strikes, the Bruntsfield Parent Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been rescheduled and will now take place on Tuesday 3 October. The meeting will take via Zoom,  starting from 7:30pm. Zoom details have been sent out via our mailing list. If you have no received these, please email [email protected]

The AGM will see the formation of the new Parent Council in accordance with our Constitution – a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 members of the Parent Forum. The Parent Council forms the delegated authority and decision making body of the Bruntsfield Parent Forum for example over spending proposals and constitutional issues. There are several office bearer positions to be filled, including Chair, Vice Chair (optional), Events Treasurer, Events Coordinator, Class Rep Coordinator, Website Manager, and Pupil Council Liaison (optional). Any of the roles can also be shared.

We have had a few candidates put themselves forward already, but are still looking for a few more; in particular, we are still looking for an Events Treasurer – without which we will not be able to keep running events – and someone to look after the Parent Council website. Regular voting members will also be reappointed. Role descriptions for both officer bearer and regular member roles can be found on our website.

If you would like to become a member of the Parent Council and put yourself forward for any role, please email [email protected] by 6pm on Tuesday 3 October. In accordance with our Constitution, anyone who expresses their interest before the meeting will be considered first, with remaining places being opened up to those in attendance on the night. If you would like to join the Parent Council but cannot attend the meeting, you can also send your intention to volunteer by proxy.

The AGM will be followed immediately by our next Parent Council Meeting. The main items on the agenda for this are:

  • A focus on the School’s priorities for the year ahead and what we are fundraising for.
  • An update on the future of our Clubs.
