Introducing your new Parent Council

Dear Bruntsfield Primary families,

I’d like to introduce myself as the new Parent Council Chair. I’m Ros, and I have two kids at the school. We also welcome a number of other new people to Parent Council roles…You can see a full list of Office Bearers in our About Us section.

We still have roles to fill on the Parent Council, so please do get in touch if you are interested – in particular, if you would like to help us rebuild our events and fundraising activities. Please check out the role descriptions for further details.

In the short to medium term, our focus as a Parent Council is to:

  • Rebuild our extra-curricular Clubs programme – which we know many families of children in the younger year groups have not yet had the chance to experience
  • Create opportunities for interest groups to meet, discuss and present particular areas of interest, together with partners in the School and beyond, which will benefit our children’s education and wellbeing
  • Restart our programme of community-building and fundraising activities, in ways which are inclusive and welcoming for all of our community.

In order to achieve any of the above, we need to hear from you, our Parent and Carer community, about what you’d like the Parent Council to support on your behalf and how you can contribute to making that happen.

You can get in touch via your Class Rep, or emailing me or any of the other Office Bearers directly. Please also save the Parent Council meeting dates in your diary. We aim to make these meetings more topic focussed to enable more discussion, and in order to do this, we need to hear from you about the subjects which interest you most: be that outdoor education, understanding the curriculum, wellbeing, digital safety, or something else!

For now, enjoy the rest of this term and I hope you and your families get a chance to relax over the October holiday.

With best wishes,
Ros
