Dear Parents and Carers,

Brighter, lighter days and a change of season brings with it some hope of a more sociable time ahead for all of us.

I hope that the P4s-7s have settled back into their routine and I know my P6 is very happy to be back in the classroom.

I realise it’s lovely to see your friends at the school gates – especially when the sky is blue but I urge you to continue to follow the guidance at pick up and drop off, moving away from the school as quickly as possible to make sure that we keep everyone safe.

Our next Parent Council meeting will take place on Wednesday 31 March at 7.30pm. This will allow parents with children at Boroughmuir to join the first part of the BHS PC meeting. There is no need to register for this meeting. The accompanying papers can be found on our website.

At the meeting, we will reiterate our call for volunteers to run fundraising events in the summer term. It is unlikely that large scale events will be possible until next session but there were some ideas floated at previous meetings. However, they will only happen if we have volunteers to run them. We have had little in the way of fundraising all year and whilst our balance remains healthier than many PCs, it will disappear quickly without any top-up ! If you have an idea or want to know more, please come along to the meeting or get in touch with Jenni, Susana or myself and we’d be happy to chat through ideas or possibilities.

And finally, some dates for your diary:

  • Term ends on Thursday 1 April and school will close at the normal time for your year group and we return on Tuesday 20 April.
  • Christmas 2021 holidays have been changed following the Education committee and are now Monday 20 December 2021 to Tuesday 4 January 2022 (inclusive).
  • Our final PC meetings of the session will take place on 19 May and 23 June.

Stay safe, stay well and look after each other.

Best wishes,
Karen Galloway
