Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this final update of 2020 finds you all well and ready to enjoy some family time despite the circumstances.

Clearly, the announcement from the First Minister on Saturday came has a shock to most and having spoken with the headteacher several times on Monday and Tuesday have been reassured that the plans are in place for the start of term. This is a scenario that the school and the team in the Council have been planning for and so we can only hope that preparedness stands us in good stead come Monday 11th January.

I hope that over the holidays you are able to enjoy a walk around Bruntsfield and beyond and see some fantastic displays of Winter Windows. Congratulations to Jenni and her team on putting together a great programme with some lovely spotting activities. Remember if you would like to make a donation for your Winter Windows Walk, we will be splitting this between two charities – Hearts and Minds and Children 1st. You can find more details are on our website here.

I am sure you will appreciate that the likelihood of clubs returning will be impacted by the move into Tier 4 from Boxing Day. I will continue to work with the council officials, the office bearers and the wider clubs team to make sure that we are ready to re-start these when we are able.

For now, I wish those who celebrate, a wonderfully peaceful Christmas even if not the one you had planned and for those who don’t celebrate, I hope that you are able to spend some quality time with your family over the break.

Stay safe and look after each other and here’s to a happier 2021.

With best wishes

Karen Galloway
Chair
