Summary of club procedures
Club organisers may supply parents with club-specific information directly, but here are a few basic yet important guidelines that help keep our clubs running smoothly.
All clubs take place either at Bruntsfield Primary or at Morningside United Church, in sessions starting directly after school or about an hour after school ends. Before the clubs begin, it's not a bad idea to remind your kids that all after-school clubs are subject to the same 'golden rules' that apply during the regular school day. And it's not a bad idea to remind you, parents, that the after-school clubs are not childcare. The club tutors are only responsible for your children during the actual club sessions. If you're interested in applying for a place for your child in Kidzcare, please contact Anne Laidlaw on 0131 228 1700.
What you need to know
1. For clubs taking place at Bruntsfield Primary that begin immediately after the school day finishes:
A) Children who aren't enrolled in Kidzcare should make their way to the club directly from their class. If they're unsure where they should be, they can ask the clubs' door-keeper, Lynn Neilsen, in the School reception area.
B) Children who are enrolled in Kidzcare will be picked up by Kidzcare as they normally would and will be brought to, and picked up from, their club. If your child is enrolled with Kidzcare, you might want to confirm club attendance with them.
2. For clubs taking place at Bruntsfield Primary that begin later in the afternoon:
A) Children who aren't enrolled in Kidzcare should arrive at the School reception area no more than five minutes before the start of the session. Where possible, tutors will collect children from the reception area. Again, Lynn, the door-keeper, will be available if children are unsure where they should be.
B) Children who are enrolled in Kidzcare will be brought to, and picked up from, their club. Again, if your child is enrolled with Kidzcare, you might want to confirm club attendance with them.
3. At the end of all Bruntsfield Primary-based club sessions:
A) Where possible, tutors will take children not enrolled in Kidzcare to the reception area. Families planning to collect children should be in the reception area or outside the main School doors no later than five minutes after the club session's end.
B) Please ensure that children are signed in and out with the clubs door-keeper.
4. For clubs based at Morningside United (MUC):
A) Families of children who aren't enrolled in Kidzcare should escort them, or ensure that they can make their way, to the side entrance off of Bruntsfield Place. The MUC door-keeper will let children in through this door only -- there is no entry through the Chamberlain Road entrance.
B) Parents are not normally allowed to wait inside the venue.
C) As with the Bruntfield Primary-based clubs, please do not drop children off more than five minutes in advance or collect them more than five minutes late.
D) As above, children enrolled in Kidzcare will be dropped off and picked up from all clubs.
If you have any questions or concerns about any of the clubs, please don't hesitate to follow up with the club coordinators directly. Parents who are new to the after-school clubs may wish to have a look at this brief introductory guide. And if you have any club-specific questions, you should ask the relevant organiser and/or tutor directly.
Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation. We couldn't do any of this without you!
